Database Development
Database development, as a service, was conceptualised in March 2004, following a surge in requests for this service.
Since early 2004, MRSC has been involved in developing a series of databases for researchers at Mater. These projects enabled MRSC to accumulate experiences in developing either small desktop database solutions using MS Access or fairly complicated web-based database on Mater Intranet or on Internet.
Our database development services include:
Microsoft Access Database Development
MS Access Database is a good solution for small research projects as it suits the needs of both rapid development and less maintenance.
We will be able to help in the following areas:
- Design and Develop MS Access Databases
- Fix and improve functionality of old MS Access Databases
- Complex Care Service Database
- Diabetes Service Database
- R.O.B.I.N. team Database
- Breast Cancer Research Database
- Growth and Development Study Database
- GBS Audit Study Database
- Edinburgh Depression Study Database
Web Application Development
Web applications are an excellent method of providing information 24/7 on Internet. Web databases become increasingly popular because of their global accessibility.
We will be able to help in the following areas:
- Domain Name Registration Assistance
- Website hosting Assistance
- Website Design
- Webpage Design
- Web application Development - database
- Mater Research Register Database
- Perinatal Mortality Register Database
- Prader Willi Syndrome Study Database

The International Stillbirth Alliance (ISA), a non-profit coalition of organizations founded by stillbirth parents, is dedicated to understanding the causes and prevention of stillbirth.
Currently, MRSC is building up its capability in web application development by adopting different technologies to meet the requirements of developing more complicated and commercial-standard databases on Internet.
These technologies include :
- ASP.NET ( C# ) and SQL Server 2000.
With ASP.NET the code behind web pages is written using the same programming languages that the .NET Framework uses (C# and VB.NET). SQL Server 2000 is the standard commercial database for medium and large applications.
- PHP and MySQL.
PHP (Hypertext Pre-processor) is a popular server-side scripting language. MySQL is a small database server ideal for small and medium applications. Both PHP and MySQL are open source and free downloadable which provides great economic advantages.
- NHMRC Stillbirth Study Database ( ASP.NET & SQL Server 2000)
- WOMBAT Collaboration ( PHP & MySQL )
- International Stillbirth Alliance (PHP & MySQL)
