This 3 day course is designed specifically
for clinician researchers in maternity and newborn health care
from all disciplines including medical, midwifery, nursing and
allied health. Day one of the workshop will focus on critical
appraisal of published research and clinical practice guidelines
including a basic understanding of commonly used statistics.
Days two and three of the workshop will be run by the WOMBAT
collaboration (www.wombatcollaboration.net)
led by Vicki Flenady and Professor Caroline Crowther. For these
two days, participants are encouraged to bring a research
question they would like to work into a protocol for a
randomised control trial. The course will cover all fundamental
aspects of trial design and methodology, and participants will
have the opportunity to work with other researchers and the
workshop faculty to develop their trial protocol. The format of
the workshop will include a number of break-out group sessions
and therefore spaces are limited. Please register early to avoid
disappointment.
Participants can attend either all three days, or either of the
components: Evidence Based Practice (July 30), and the WOMBAT
protocol workshop (July 31-August 1).
