Statistical Tools : Home
Introduction :
The MMRI Clincial Research Support Unit Statistics Tool Kit contain simple and commonly used statistical procedures presented in the form of JAVA applets that can be accessed through the intranet.
The pages are not intended to replace the powerful and popular statistical packages such as SPSS or SAS, and investigators are strongly urged to learn and use these packages, particularly when a large volume of calculation is needed.
However, these pages are designed to be user friendly and simple, so that the less experienced investigators may find them less intimidating and easier to use. Each page provides a specific simple algorithms, requiring no decision on options, and with data input designed to be intuitive and easy.
The pages can be used to do quick calculations, particularly with summary data, across the web, so that the laborious job of going back to the primary data source and activating packages on specific computers will not be necessary.
The calculations are carried out in Java applets, and the page provides instructions on how to use the applet, some explanations, and references to the method.
Disclaimer :
During development, the results of the calculations were checked against text book examples, and the output of statistical packages. Although these efforts should make errors unlikely, it is still possible.
