Program Objectives:
- Improve your understanding of the basics of statistics in clinical research (nature of probability, normal distribution, standard deviation, standard error and confidence intervals)
- Enable you to gain a basic understanding of the following
statistical analyses:
- comparing two groups: differences in means (for example
Student's t-test) and proportions (for example chi-squared,
risk ratio, odds ratio)
examining relationships between continuous variables: correlation and regression - prediction statistics: sensitivity and specificity, likelihood ratios, ROC curves
- Assist you to understand the requirements for and estimating of sample sizes for common research models
- comparing two groups: differences in means (for example
Student's t-test) and proportions (for example chi-squared,
risk ratio, odds ratio)
- Build on your knowledge of randomisation methods
- Enable you to easily identify misuse of statistics
- Improve your understanding of data management
- Enhance your competency in the fundamentals of graphical presentation of data
